Barefoot Running is on the increase in Ireland and the Barefoot.ie clinics and workshops are designed to give sports people the information and tools to transition safely and run naturally, putting fun back into running while reducing injuries.

Established in 2010, Barefoot.ie is Ireland’s leading promoter of barefoot running and incorporating barefoot activities into all sports. Barefoot.ie are the official distributors of Vibram FiveFingers in Ireland. Vibram FiveFingers are the premium barefoot shoe and offer a thin flexible sole to protect the foot while allowing full barefoot functionality.

Barefoot.ie is based in the Rubicon Centre, CIT Campus, Cork and is managed by Owen Loughrey, who does all his running
barefoot. Outside of marathon running Owen loves adventure racing and any other excuse to take to the hills.

“Running for me was a chore, something you had to do to keep fit, until I was introduced to barefoot running. Now I try and get out for a run as often as I can” explains Barefoot.ie MD Owen Loughrey. “We now see all sorts of sports people from rugby & GAA players to yoga practitioners, recreational runners to fitness enthusiasts and everyone in between using barefoot activities as a beneficial tool in their training routines.”

“I am delighted to have Max DeLacy join us and host his only European Workshop this year in Cork. Max is a fantastic runner and coach and I am sure it will be a great day for everyone who can make the workshop”

We are hosting Ireland’s first group barefoot run in Dublin on May 6th to mark International Barefoot Day. This will be a great afternoon for barefoot runners of all abilities to go for a leisurely run through Dublin City. We have a super course planned taking in some of the city’s most recognised landmarks.

BAREFOOT WORKSHOP WITH MAX DELACY

This is a once off opportunity for you and your team to attend a workshop that will equip you with all the barefoot knowledge you can absorb. Max DeLacy is an ultra-runner, barefoot trainer and Pose running coach who has spent the past 6 years introducing people to barefoot running as a way to reduce injury and improve performance. A childhood spent running barefoot in Africa gave way to a lifelong passion for sport. From rugby to competitive boxing, a love of ‘good movement’ and a belief that we are in fact ‘born to run’ led him to specialize in running mechanics and use barefoot as a key training tool. Based in Australia, Max, through workshops and 1:1 clinics, has helped hundreds of runners from Olympic athletes to celebrity fun-runners, come back from recurring injury and enjoy a fun injury-free way to move. Max will be joined by Ireland’s own Joe Warne. Joe is a High Performance coach and international athlete and is currently undergoing a PHD in Barefoot Running
