5 Steps to Becoming an Entrepreneur
This year marks the 9th anniversary of the highly successful CIT Prize for Innovation Competition sponsored by the Cork County and City Enterprise Boards. The competition for CIT students has always been a two day event featuring an exhibition of innovation and enterprise at both second level and third level. This year, to celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship, CIT will host a week-long series of events across its five campus locations, including Blackrock Castle Observatory. The week (March 7th -11th inclusive) will celebrate and showcase innovation and entrepreneurial activity across CIT.




The Irish Patents Office will host the next “Building a Business on Your Ideas” seminar in the Nimbus Building Cork Institute of Technology on Thursday 26th January 2012. These seminars are aimed at the ‘small business’ community, entrepreneurs & inventors and are organised by the Patents Office, in cooperation with The Enterprise Europe Network, Enterprise Ireland, the County Enterprise Boards and the Cork Institute of Technology.
Genesis participants Mary Liddane and James Kehoe of PIA have recently received a “Highly Commended Award” from Intertrade Ireland. PIA’s business plan was reviewed by a panel of independent entrepreneurs, investors and experts as part of Intertrade Ireland’s prestigious Seedcorn competition. PIA is developing a secure data collection and analysis service aimed at policy development in Europe.
