27th May 2011: Rising Cork company WeddingDates.ie, based at the Rubicon Centre in Cork has beaten off competition from the likes of PizzaHut and Vodafone Ireland to win the Best Online PR Award in the inaugural Social Media Awards in the Mansion House in Dublin last night.
 
The Awards recognise the best and the most innovative use of Social Media for businesses and featured a good mix of owner-managed start ups as well as larger well known brands represented.  State agencies such as Enterprise Ireland and the Defence Forces were also finalists as well as Charities and NGOs such as Fota Island and Bernardos. 

Crossan was delighted to scoop the award which recognized the positive PR that was generated for her company WeddingDates.ie when a team of them travelled to Finland last summer to participate in the World Wife Carrying Championships. 

“I am over the moon to win the award, it is such validation for everything that we are doing on our Social Media Channels.”  WeddingDates can be found on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Crossan also writes a popular wedding blog on the site also.
 
“Social Media is a great way for me to interact with the brides and grooms out there and put a bit of personality into the business.  We use Twitter, Facebook and our videos to have a bit of fun with our users as well as engage with them in more serious ways by answering questions etc.” says Crossan.
 
WeddingDates.ie (http://www.weddingdates.ie) is an Irish website that allows engaged couples to select a county and see a list of wedding venues and suppliers available on their chosen wedding date.
