The award winning Genesis Enterprise Programme is well underway with 17 new start-up Companies in the spotlight for 2011/2012. Over the next 12 months these entrepreneurs will be based in the Rubicon Centre, CIT’s on campus Business Incubator and will receive invaluable commercial support and business mentoring, along with networking opportunities, workshops and peer to peer learning. Business milestones are set for development and progress is guided by a dedicated Programme Manager.

The industries that they are pursuing are varied – electronics, energy conservation, e-commerce, food production, healthcare, software development, technical writing and wireless communications. In April 2012, at the end of the programme, each participating businesses will be presented to the public in a showcase exhibition and the achievements of particular businesses will be recognised in an Awards ceremony.

The main focus of the programme is to provide long term supports to businesses which will enable them to grow and increase employment. To date, Genesis has supported almost 200 people and teams in starting their businesses. More that 70% of the start-up businesses are in operation to-day employing more that fourteen hundred people. Over 50% of the businesses are trading internationally. 40 businesses have gone on to be designated “High Potential Start Ups” by Enterprise Ireland.

The class of 2011/2012 are working towards shaping Ireland’s future with the creation of high value, sustainable enterprises and employment opportunities. The Genesis Enterprise Programme is committed to supporting its hard working entrepreneurs to turn their initial idea into a viable reality, with export potential.
